The layered teaching methodology is based on the premises that there are differences among students, the layered teaching should be considered to carry out to the students in the same classroom to be aware that the students are the center of the teaching and learning process. Teaching methods should be designed for all the students to help them benefit from their learning and then get the ideal result of developing education and teaching. The layered teaching methodology is in accordance with the theory of materialism and dialectic principle, and also in conformity to the pedagogical theories. It takes into consideration the students' psychology of learning and is compatible with the principle of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and the principle of acceptability, thus having an extensive theoretic basis. The layered teaching methodology can contribute to the improvement of teachers' qualities and is beneficial for all the students. It can stimulate the students to play their major role in the teaching and learning processes and can contribute to the shaping of students' minds and characteristics. Therefore, the layered teaching methodology is an important means to develop quality education and also an efficient approach to laying a solid foundation for the cultivation of talents of multiple qualifications and multiple abilities. While implementing the layered teaching methodology in middle school mathematics classrooms, the following principles should be observed:The principle of maintaining the minimum and keeping an open ceiling; The principle of initiative study and subjectivity; The principle of objectivity and dynamics principle; The principle of pursuing the objectives; The principle of teaching the students as a whole while implementing layered teaching methodology; The principle of encouragement and adjusting the assessment.According to the principles above, the author of this article has practiced thelayered teaching methodology in middle school mathematics classrooms and carried out the research on the methodology. The experiment and research indicate that this methodology basically requires the combination of unity and division of the students, the participation of all the students as well as the teachers, and the progressive implementing of the methodology. The procedures of the implementing the methodology are composed of the following 6 steps:1. dividing the students into different layers;2. designing layers of objectives;3. layered teaching methods;4. adopting layered assessing methods;5. adjusting and rectifying;6. improving students into higher levels. Finally, we have established layered teaching models for giving new lectures and explaining the exercises respectively.
