The thesis serves to summarizes the connotation and characteristics of scientific education and humanistic education in different historical periods from a philosophical and historical point of view, review the progress of development of humanistic education and scientific education, the contradiction and conflict between them. The writer thinks that the contradiction and conflict are even intense and sharp with the rapid development of scientific education for it, practical applicability and utility, which results in the case that humanistic education is placed in the second place or neglected. The undue emphasis on scientific education and development affects the harmony between human being and nature, results in the loss of humanistic spirit. Experience and lesson helps to bring about re-thinking and questioning on scientific education, restoration of humanistic education and integration of scientific education and humanistic education. Through his theoretical study and practical research in mathematical teaching in middle schools, the writer thinks it is necessary to apply scientific humanistic education and cultivate scientific humanistic-spirit in mathematical teaching in middle schools. The writer stresses the significance of scientific humanistic education and cultivation of scientific humanistic spirit, brings forward the way and strategies of doing so, summarize the achievements and experience in practice. Through further investigation on theory, and practice, the writer successfully proves the feasibility of applying scientific humanistic education and cultivation of scientific humanistic spirit in mathematical teaching in middle schools.
