The art vocational education in the rural areas of Zhejiang province is presented with a new opportunity to its growth under the circumstance of attention to the issues concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers, and of carrying on national quality education. However, the research shows that art vocational education in rural areas has not gave its full play to its potential, for which concern from the society is not enough. Compared with the study of rural economy and society, and other theories of education, the research into art vocational education in the rural areas is lack of qualified staff, of systematic study, and of academic quality. In the view of this, this study, emphasizing investigation, made thorough study on many Art Vocational Schools and their classes in Zhejiang rural areas. Due to the effort of deliberately avoiding drawing a conclusion from personal experience and subjective desire, the study is more objective, creditable and feasible, hoping it plays significant role in guiding the development of art vocational education of Zhejiang rural areas.The major points are the study:I . Elaborated the urgency of developing art vocational education in the rural areas of Zhejiang province. It is demands for perfecting the construction of rural economy, for the peasants to strive for a relatively comfortable life, for improving the quality of modern peasants, and for inheriting and developing folk art and culture in the rural areas.II. Drew out and analyzed four models for running art vocational school in the rural areas of Zhejiang province. Take the following art vocational schools as examples: Jinyun School of Art and Design, Wuyi Second Vocational School , Jinhua Experimental High School , and Dongyang Woodcarving Technical School. Their schools embody common features of art vocational school in the rural areas in Zhejiang province-, that is "integrating education with production", "education for a higher grade", "one entity with two wings", and "training for special skills".
