A Study Of Interaction Between Economic\Social Demand And The Establishment Of Speciality In Higher Vocational Education In Zhejiang Province

With the rapid development of information technology and the fierce competition of economic globalization, China's Industrial Structure and Technology Structure are upgrading and improving, leading to changes in labor market demand for qualified personnel. Higher vocational education has expanded rapidly in Zhejiang province since 1998, but the issue of employment difficulties of graduates has become increasingly prominent. How to establish and adjust speciality to adapt to changes in the labor market for higher vocational education institutions deserves our full attention. This paper seeks to analysis the interaction between the labor market and the adjustment of speciality through more detailed information and data, hoping to provide some reference and help of the market demand for higher vocational institutions.The first part takes the data of 2005-2009 establishment of speciality set in Zhejiang higher vocational education institutions to analyze the status and trends, mainly on the development of vocational education and speciality establishment. This part holds the opinion that the establishment of speciality in higher vocational education institutions has made some progress, but there are also some problems, such as high repetition rate of the establishment of speciality and blind introduction of new majors without research\low quality of education.The second part studies the interaction between local economic\social demand and the establishment\adjustment of speciality in Zhejiang higher vocational education in past 5 years. This part gives an analysis on the influence of industrial structure\career structure\occupation structure to labor demand through large amounts of data, from a perspective of labor market, especially on the mutual relation between labor market and speciality establishment. The last part deeply explores the speciality establishment and adjustment of the higher vocational education in Zhejiang on its characteristics and its trend of development. This part holds the opinion that speciality establishment and adjustment of Zhejiang vocational colleges show weak correlation with the local labor market; that speciality development shifts from quantity expansion to quality improvement; that there still exsits a high repetition rate and unreasonable speciality structure; that its development should be based on long-term economic and social development plan of Zhejiang province:advanced manufacturing, high efficiency agriculture and modern service-oriented industry. Colleges should adjust speciality and enrollment timely, formulate speciality groups in order to enhance speciality adaptability.
