On Characteristic And Spirit Of The Ancient Academy

The academy , originatiny from Tang Dynasty, is an educational organization in ancient china, integraty hiding books, teaching and sacrifice service. The academy spirit is the precious treasures in the history of china's educational development.This text consists of preface, the university features and spirit of academy, the lost of university spirit and conclusion.The preface emphasizes on the academy research the relate to the research fruits on the origin .the levels of structure and characteristics of the institute .The second part discusses the university feature of the academy from four aspects, the entering age of the students , the study content ,the request of the teacher and the way and direction of student after their graduation. The third part concerns about the university spirit of the academy ,namely ,the liberaty and tolerance ,democracy and autonomy of the institute. The liberaty and tolerance embody in the combination of the various student source and the different teaching methods to the different school thoughts of students and teachers .the democracy finds the expression in the democratic teaching atmosphere and harmonious relationship between teachers and students .the academy is self-designed ,It also recruits students on its own ,offer courses by itself and formlates its own regulations and principles .All these give expression to the autonomy of the institute .The fourth part demonstrates the impact that caused by the rigid civil service examination system of old china the lack of scientific and systematic management and the lost of university spirit in the school .the conclusion outlines the university spirit.
