The system of job assignment on college graduates wasreformed in 1993, and graduates have been pushed into the careermarket accepting the test of market competition since. It becomes aconspicuous problem that contemporary graduates run into difficultieson obtaining employment. There are two important reasons in which.One side is objective factors, such as the surplus of human resourcesfor every college expanded their recruitment scope successively in thepast years, the separation of the college education from marketrequirement, and so on. The other side, there are some reasons comingfrom graduates themselves, namely, passive psychology and narrowrange in career selection. Besides, the psychological problem asanxiety, tense and puzzle often appear in the course of obtainingemployment. These problems reflect that contemporary graduates havenot prepared for their obtaining employment. Not only careerknowledge and skill, but the confidence in career ability is deficient tothem. The latter is the important factor that graduates haveabove-mentioned problem in career pursuit. These problems thatgraduates have meet need college's guidance offer help to them.Therefore, the study is particularly important how the theory ofself-efficacy apply to career field.However, the theory of traditional career psychology isobviously insufficient in this respect. Generally speaking, which can isbelonged to two classes. One kind is static research on investigating thecontent of the professional selection, namely we can predict individualis suit for which kind of profession according to the type of career andone's personality. The other kind is the dynamic research in the courseof choosing one's career, that is to say, how individual makes one'schoice. The career selection is a rational course, and it includes theevaluation to the selected objects, making and carrying out one'sdecision, using beneficial information and so on. We can say,traditional career psychology lacks of the comprehensive theory,which can not explain the content or behavior course in the careerselection or development, but offer the effective solution and pursuit.In this meaning, the theory of career self-efficacy integrates the type ofstatic and dynamic research and can remedy the deficit of thetraditional career psychology theory.The career self-efficacy is a entity factor to influent individualvocational selection and development, it is playing a role ofintermediary between the motive and behavior, has already motivenature, make the promotion factor of the behavior, and sets up on theindividual's cognitive foundation, has cognition nature. It not onlyinfluents the individual's career behavior content but also relates to theindividual's career behavior course. Therefore, the career self-efficiency is playing an important role in the individual's careerbehavior. Meanwhile, the career self-efficacy is one concept of highlyoperating nature, all right the measurement effectively, can beimproved through adopting the effective tactics. The way that thecareer self-efficacy theory has offered measurement for it and changedtoo.This thesis thinks the career self-efficacy is the abilityconsciousness that an individual finishes the relevant contents ofspecific job to oneself, and the confidence or faith to the ability toreach performance-based objective of the job. This thesis verifiesprediction and influence in the career pursuit of the seniorundergraduate students through explaining Bandera' self-efficacytheory. The theory of career self-efficacy sense has developed inAmerican which man's culture, so, this thesis has proved its culturaluniversality.
