The Web-based Redevelopment Of Traditional Medical Audio-visual Teaching Materials

With the rapid development of web technology to broadband, high speed, and multi-medium, the advantages of hardware in web-based education are weakening; while the building of qualified teaching resources becomes increasingly important, which will finally decide the results of web-based education. This subject, by the study on the integration of traditional medical audio-visual teaching materials and web, intends to impel the rapid development of the building of web-based teaching resources in medical colleges.Through the statistic analysis of the use of traditional audio-visual teaching materials in Nantong Medical College from 1999 to 2002, and combined with his practical experience in medical education technology, the author discovers some problems of traditional audio-visual teaching materials, such as the low rate of the utilization and the poor practical effects. Meanwhile, exploring and analyzing the current situation and the demands of the building of web-based teaching materials in colleges, the author recognizes that the current web-based teaching materials in colleges are quite deficient, and require rapid development through different ways. A new idea is, therefore, put forward that we could redevelop the traditional medical audio-visual teaching materials in web environment to push forward the building of web-based teaching materials in medical colleges.In theoretical study, the author analyzes the theoretical basis for the traditional medical audio-visual teaching materials, and the analysis of the role of constructionist theory and knowledge management in the redevelopment of traditional medical audio-visual teaching materials in web-based environment is especially focused. On this basis, the author concludes that the redevelopment of traditional medical audio-visual teaching materials should be a process developing from single-medium to multi-medium, from unidirectional to mutual directional, and from medium-oriented to content-oriented.In the light of the above analysis, and combined with the developmental trend of computer multi-medium technology, the author finally puts forward a theoretical model of the redevelopment of traditional medical audio-visual teaching materials in web-based environment, and analyzes the features of this model as well. On the basis of this model, the building of a web-based repertoire of teaching materials and case recourses is accordingly suggested.
