Mao Zedong is not an ordinary education theorist, but a revolutionary educationist and educational strategic ideologist. His education ideology and practice since 1949 was always associated with his ideology and practice on his innovation of the Chinese society. Mao Zedong's ideals on politics and education were merged into one. His several unique illustrations on education problems since 1949 presented distinguished characteristics.We cannot study and understand Mao Zedong's education ideology from an isolated point of view, or discuss it merely in terms of education. We should study it with regard to the whole innovation process of the entire Chinese society since 1949, and understand its scientific connotation and spiritual essence from the broader historical background of social, economical and cultural development and changes. The summary of his gain and loss on his education theory and practice since 1949 is definitely significant for the quality education widely spread in China at present.This thesis describes the development course and educational practice of Mao Zedong's education ideology after the establishment of new China, summarizes and comments the basic contents of Mao Zedong's education ideology and outlines the main characteristics of Mao Zedong's education ideology: democratization, revolutionization and unity of opposites. The thesis evaluates primarily Mao Zedong's education ideology and practice. It affirms its historical function and theoretical significance, and indicates its limitation of education ideology and practice, finally discusses objectively and fairly its significance to the contemporary age.
