This study collects materials through questionnaire survey. Based on the relevant theories of sociology (socialization) and social psychology (social cognition), it aims to find if there is deference between shanghai urban residents'happiness viewpoint and xi'an urban residents'. The first chapter includes the study background, the literature review, the conceptualization and the operation of concept. In addition, the framework, the hypothesis, and the research method of this study are also mentioned. The second chapter compares the urban residents'living environment from such angles as economy, opening, social environment, population, employment, living condition and social security. The third chapter describes the states of the happiness viewpoints of the urban residents in shanghai and xi'an cities and compares the difference between them. The cognition on the happiness aims, the factors affecting the happiness ,the subjective well-being, and the factors affecting the subjective well-being of the urban residents in shanghai and xi'an cities are compared and analyzed. The last chapter includes the conclusion and discussion of this study. It concludes that the cognition on some happiness aims of the urban residents in shanghai and xi'an cities and the factors affecting the happiness of the urban residents in shanghai and xi'an cities are different, but the subjective well-being and the factors affecting the subjective well-being of the urban residents in shanghai and xi'an cities are not different. In addition, it brings out some advice according to the conclusion. As well, the specialty, the significance and the limitation of the study are included in this part.
