Nowadays, to find an effective way to improve students' reading ability and their interest in English learning has been a great challenge to teachers. The aim of the thesis is to explore the effects of the practical teaching model of English newspaper reading based on the theory of Multiple Intelligences. In the research the author chose 21st Century Teens (Senior Edition) as the teaching material. Cooperative learning was conducted in the experiment. At the beginning of the research, the researcher designed two questionnaires: one is about the students' interest and motivation in learning English, and the other is about the students' Multiple Intelligences. From the data of the two experiments, the researcher acquainted the students' states and divided them into 12 groups according to their MI.The results of the experiment indicate that there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group and that the Mi-based newspaper reading plays a positive role in teaching English reading in senior high school. From the data of the post-test that grades of the experimental group have been improved, which shows that the research turned out to be helpful in improving the senior students' reading ability and interest in English reading.
