| The background of this thesis is the global aging and Chinese social- economic transition. The discussion on the worth of the aged in city is on the base of investigation of the city of Huangshi in Hubei province by following several aspects:Firstly, the author goes deep into the connotation of the life worth of senior citizens from worth , life worth to the life worth of senior citizens. And then expatiates on the characters of the life worth of senior citizens.Secondly, the author analyses the actualities and problems of the life worth of senior citizens, which are based on the investigation data.In our country, the life worth of senior citizens is generalized in four aspects, which are human resource, potential of consumption, indirect contribution and spirit of culture. All the senior citizens don't attempt and accomplish nothing. Certainly ,we couldn't ignore the difficulties of actualizing the life worth of senior citizens, which also can be concluded in three lays: the institutional lay, the social lay and the self- cognition lay.Finally, the author puts forward some strategies to actualizing the life worth of senior citizens such as supporting of society and initiatively attaching their selves to social activities for senior citizens.
