Teachers'morale is a kind of mental state in a given job situation , and displays in such ways as the active, enthusiastic and pleasant feeling, self-motivation working spirit, the sense of identity of and belonging to school, team and teaching by participating the activities related with teaching, which satisfies personal need, and realizes teaching goal as well. Such mental state of teachers plays an important, even decisive role in the healthy development of student, school , teachers themselves, and predictive goal.Just as Ellenberg, an American scholar, states,"the achievement of students keeps increasingly improving in those schools with high teachers'moral". Therefore, how to maintain high or moderate moral and uplift low morale, which is an essential program that a number of educational researchers and administrators have been seeking to solve. In recent years, although the concern of the overcoming of teachers occupational burn-out and the motivation of their enthusiasm have been receiving increased attention in our country, little research to teachers'morale and how to maintain and uplift it has been done.In order to borrow international experience for effectively maintaining and uplifting teachers'morale, the thesis examines such various measures as American teachers'motivation mechanism of compensation, the improvement of their working context and content, the encouragement of school innovation,and the supporting of their professional development, moreover analyzes their social background, and theoretical reason, gives related case, then examines the effect of measures. At last, the thesis proposes some suggestions for uplifting the morale of teachers in primary and secondary school in China according to existing educational situation of china.The framework of the thesis is as follows,Preface mainly introduces the origin and existing situation of the study, view and method of the study, then gives definitions of some important concepts.Part one examines the implication of teachers'morale from such perspectives as managing, psychology, sociology and organizational behavior, and analyzes its four compositions.Part two deals with measures uplifting teachers'morale in American primary and secondary school, first introduces the specific content of each piece of measure, then analyzes its social and economical background and reason of carrying out, moreover, seek the theoretical foundations of managing, psychology, sociology. At last, makes some evaluations on the effects of various measures, and gives related cases.
