Fer many years, the problem how to teach and learn English correctly is always troubling teachers and students. Compared with other subjects in middle school, the most time is always poured into English, but the effect is not satisfying or disappointing. In order to solve the problem, the dissertation points out the current situation of English learning, analyses the reason why we put so much time, but get the least result, and puts forward the advice on how to solve the problem—using the teaching method based on problems. Teaching method based on problems has a long history and an extensive theories foundation. There were many educators published many books to explain the problem. Based on forefather educators' theory, the dissertation mainly studies how to use the problem teaching method in middle school. The dissertation includes seven chapters, divided into three parts. First of all, The dissertation analyses and sets forth the necessary of studying the teaching method based on problems and its history, definition, ideas and thy way of using it. Second, by studying the standard of senior English course and analyzing the present situation of teaching English, the dissertation wholly talks about the particular connotation, the plan, the progress and the assertion strategies of using the teaching method based on problems in middle school. At last, in order to carry out and use the teaching method, the dissertation analyses and studies the duty and the role which teachers and students should have and play, which sets up a firm foundation of carrying out the teaching method based on problems. The dissertation has its realistic meaning and a practical value.
