The Practice And The Exploration Of Applying GIS To The Geography Teaching In The High School

The GIS is the space information system, a way of collecting, storing, managing, analyzing, describing the data of the Earth surface and geographical distribution. From the 60's of 20th century up to now, the development of the world GIS experienced four stages: Expanding period consolidating period, development period and the consumers' period. The GIS has played an important part in high school geography teaching: inquiring and storing geography information, making the maps of special subject display and carrying out the teaching of the space distribution and analysis etc. According to the modern geography teaching theories, and the modern information teaching theories, whether from the new requirements of the quality of talented persons or from the adaptation to the modern geographical development, the high school geography teaching should bring in the GIS. Because Popularizing the application of GIS will bring about great significance and profound influence in high school geography teaching: It activates the teaching content of geography ; deepens the comprehension of the geography principles; outstands the acquisition of geography ; even benefits the student to develop the scientific view of geography and stirs up the students' passion of geography science. The writer combined practice and exploration of the GIS t in high school geography teaching. This article will focus on the discussion of theconcrete application of GIS both from the content and the teaching techniques in high school geography teaching analyzing how to combine GIS with practice in high school geography teaching, in order to complete outstandingly the latest geography course reforms to reach the goal of dimensional teaching target. I put forward the suggestion , aiming at current difficulties and problems that we meet with while bringing in the GIS to use it in our high school geography teaching.
