Interactive teaching approach indicates that teachers train and develop learners' communicative competence by using interaction methods between teachers and students or students and students. Nowadays, teachers, particularly in the senior phase, students seldom have opportunities to practice speaking English in large classrooms with few interactive activities. As a result, students are the passive receivers of knowledge and they are likely to be less confident and interest in real-life communication. For these reasons, it is necessary for us to realize the importance of training learners' communicative competence, to accept the new concept in the teaching reform, to examine the problems in English teaching, and to build up a pleasant interactive environment to improve teaching efficiency.Interactive Teaching Approach is characterized by its communicative nature. More and more teachers have regarded it as an effective way to overcome the problems in our language teaching. It was proved that cooperative group work is instructive for constructing interactive teaching model in reality, which ascertain the students' principal part on one hand, and promote the communication and collaboration, and make them form good psychological quality on the other. The purpose of this thesis is to research into the interaction between teachers and students, students and students in English class, create a more interactive atmosphere through group work, effectively develop students' interest, and improve their English competence in real-life communication. Based on the interactive teaching model, the author used experimental method, literary method, interview method and comparative method, and conducted a one-term teaching experiment through group-work. The results show that this teaching model has gained great teaching efficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing; the theories of children development, cognition, motivation, social cohesiveness and interdependence prove the previous hypothesis and the analysis and discussion also support the effectiveness of this teaching model. The author believes that this research is of great significance in English teaching.
