The education is one of the most important means of endowing the women with the morality, the knowledge and the self-confidence, which are the basic aspects of a human being living in a society. The investigation into the feminine education, which is a vital source of the human resource in the society, is the basis for women's participating in the politics and also enriching themselves; it can also help the women to get rid of the bondage of the tradition and live in a healthier, more substantial and more scientific way. Starting from the foundation of the church ladies school, this dissertation will take the historical development as the clue and elaborate the developmental process of the feminine education so as to foresee the future of the feminine higher education. During the reign of the Republic of China, the feminine education came into being because of the maturity of the class, ideology and legal system. From then on, women began to enjoy the rights of receiving higher education. However, if we compare the feminine higher education of USA and that of China, it is easy to find in our feminine educational system some innate disadvantages, which existed from the day when it was born, and might undermine the development of the feminine higher education in the future. After the foundation of the PRC, the feminine education underwent great progress. The rapid social development and the advancement of the educational policy after the "open door policy" facilitate the feminine education to a great extent, but the influence of the thought of the feudalism to the modern society, economics and culture cannot be ignored, so the feminine higher education still suffers various restrictions and sometimes many problems emerge in the feminine higher educational system. In the 21st century, the so called "the knowledge-based economy", after China's entry into the WTO, for another time the feminine higher education faces great opportunity and challenges. With the help of the data quoted in the dissertation, the situation of the development of the feminine higher education is elucidated in a very deep way. While affirming the excellence achieved by it, we mainly focus on analyzing the problems emerging in its development and giving related advices on the future development of the feminine higher education.
