Research On The Development Of Sports Culture In Changsha's City Culture Construction

Changsha City is among the first group of historic and opening-up tourist cities granted by the State Council, and the lift of its culture quality counts heavily in the strategy of its development. This program serves as a study of the features and problems in the development of sports culture in Changsha, so as to catch the decision-makers' attention, to bring about adjustment concerned, and finally to push forward the promotion of the sports culture in a bigger culture background of the whole city. It is expected to provide helpful advice to strengthen Changsha's competitive power as a city, and makes its development quicker and smoother. This program also serves indirectly as a reference for the development of sports culture in other cities.The program is carried out with various kinds of methods, documentation, interviewing with experts, sending question— naires, logical conclusion, and statistics. In the program we studied the status quo of the development of sports culture in the background of culture construction of the city. It covers a larges area of all five districts of the city, Furong District, Kaifu District, Yulu District, Tianxin District, and Yuhua District.This research proposes that sports culture exerts important functions in displaying the individual culture of Changsha City and that the cultural construction of Changsha aims at converting Changsha into a recreational city which keeps human landscape of Hunan Province and natural scenery such as mountains, river, islands and city in harmony. This research also advocates that TV Xiang Corps, Publishing Xiang Corps, and Sports Xiang Corps have provided powerful drivingsource for the development of Changsha culture. Diversified stadium facilities offers material bases for the development of sports culture. The citizens' colorful sports activities and well-developed sports industry not only promotes the development of sports culture and highlights the individuality of Changsha' s sports culture but also becomes the important sight signifying the upgrading of Changsha' s city cultural quality. What' s more, this paper analyses the problems existing in the development of Changsha' s sports culture such as problem about small proportion of social sports investment, problems about shortage of sports organizations and management staffs, problems about unoptimistic sports area per person, problems about poor awareness of some citizens. Based on these facts, the paper puts forward strategies and suggestions for the development of sports culture in Shangsha' s cultural construction: strengthening the management system, perfecting the sports facilities through different methods, cultivating cultural common view through mobilizing all the citizens, giving prominence to Changsha' advantage through displaying the characteristics of Changsha' s sports culture, intensifying sports cultural exchange, and extending Changsha' s influence both in China and foreign countries.
