Because people want to understand the world by "modernity" now, a lot of scholars generalized the modernity severally. Great socialtheoretician of Germany ------Max Weber (1864-1920) , through theresearch to the relation of the Protestantism ethics and the Capitalism spirit , put forward the proposition of " modernity" that influencing that time and afterworld greatly.The text consider the " Rationalization" as a motif that impenetrating the modernity thought of Weber .His historic research of west society , economy , politics and culture are all established an abundant grand whole through this motif. In this way, the "modernity" of Weber is transformed to rationalization, modernity animadverted then become rationality animadverted. According to the standpoint of Weber, rationalization not only is in a few aspects, such as economy , culture, management and personal life etc., permeate on the social activities of each lay, but also is a moving process of development. The rationalization makes West Society originate and develop rationally.After explaining Weber's thought of modernity of "rationalization" from sociology to philosophy, we can see nether a pessimistic Weber, nor a optimistic Weber, but is who have anxiety and ambivalent about the modernity. From the modernity is the society's develop and pay attention to human's freedom and personality releasing, Weber understand the modernity's inevitability and advancement, ideal type of society's organization express the maximal efficiency, people get some freedom on certain aspect, increase the ability of people controlling world;on other hand, Weber also bring forward pessimistic predict for the modernity's foreground, expand overly of instrumental-rationality take it to it's inverse, become to essential irrationality, it's difficult to dash out it's bondage for people.
