The outbreak of heart and cerebrovascular diseases has something to do with the serum lipid levels and physical exercises can improve the lipoprotein levels in a safe and secure way. Aerobic exercise has been proved to be an effective way in enhancing lipoprotein metabolism, but there is still a controversy about resistance training' s effects on lipoprotein metabolism. The thesis is designed to compare the effects of jogging and resistance training on the serum lipid metabolism of post-menopausal women respectively, and then to suggest an appropriate program which is supposed to provide theoretical basis for post-menopausal women' s training. Methods: Thirty-six post-menopausal women according to different training programs were randomized into three groups: jogging (J), resistance training (RT) and control (C).The method of reckoning the target heart rate of jogging: THR=(HRmax—HRrest ) ×0.60.85+HRrest;and at the same time RPE is applied to supervise the exercise intensity .The time of training is 40 minutes every time and the training frequency is three times per week. Resistance training is primarily a training of upper and lower muscle groups on a training machine. Eighty percent of the exercises bears one-repetition maximum. The training frequency is three times per week. Because the women of C group receive no exercise in their daily life, the three principal data are basically the same. Both 12 week exercise-included changes in weight, the size of abdomen and buttocks, fat rate, rest heart rate, 12-minute running distance, VO2 max the maximum oxygen capacity, serum lipid, blood insulin and adrenaline were observed. Conclusion: Jogging & resistance training can prevent AS of the post-menopausal woman effectively by improving component of serum lipid—increasing HDL remarkably, depressing the TG&LDL, less influencing on TC, thereby it canprevent or delay the formation of coronary congee sclerosis . This study shows that resistance training is more effective than jogging in improving component of serum lipid.Jogging & resistance training can both enhance insulin sensitivity of the post-menopausal woman, while the effect of latter is more distinct. Jogging & resistance training can improve the constitution of the post-menopausal woman to certain degree, it can reduce the weight, fat rate, the size of abdomen and buttocks. Resistance training increases muscle strength remarkably. The remarkable characteristic of jogging is that the exercise ability of the post-menopausal woman is improved. The exercise mode of the post-menopausal woman should be diversified and in full-scale.
