Studies On The Socialization Of Ideological And Political Education In Institutions Of Higher Learning

As one of the tendencies and the sweeping reform in this new era, the socialization of ideological and political education refers to such a process in which while the ideological and political education adapts itself to social development ,universities and colleges should play a leading role and make full use of social resources and manpower to achieve the interaction with social education in a practical and student-oriented manner. Thus the comprehensive nature of the ideological and political education in institutions of higher learning calls for the socialization in concept, content and manpower.The promotion of ideological and political education in institutions of higher learning finds its basis upon scientific theory and actual social needs. In theory, it has philosophical and pedagogical guiding principles, namely, the principle of social existence and ideology, the principle of human nature, and the three orientations. In reality, it is decided by a number of factors, such as the need of reform in institutions of higher learning, the actual call for socialization of ideological and political education and so on.The socialization of ideological and political education necessitates its development in social life, becoming a cause of universal concern. Therefore, the role of party and government should be given full play to ensure the support in policies, laws and regulations, and finance. Secondly, a bilateral combination mechanism is to be established between institutions of higher learning and society. And accordingly institutions of higher learning is to play the coordinative and leading role in the educational network formed by families, society and itself. Last but not the least, social resources await to be made full use of in that various respects of social life are the very carriers of ideological and political education, such as interpersonal communication, internet, the building of towns and new social countryside, etc. in which potentials and resources should be tapped and utilized for ideological and political education. Only in this way can concerted efforts be made in all-out, thorough, and all-round education and cultivation of students by institutions of higher learning and society.
