Teachers' professional development is the trend of the world teacher education development and it draws wide attention. We should probe approaches in teachers' professional development against the background of our country's education. The research has made some theoretical, comparative, historical and case researches to the question of teachers' professional development. And the research raises some principles and tactics that can promote teachers' professional development. The main ideas and research contents are listed as the following.The intension of teachers' professional development should be understood in three respects. The contents of teachers' professional development are teachers' professional nature. And the contents make a special effort to promote teachers' inner qualities. Teachers' professional development is a dynamic process. The main body of teachers' professional development is only teacher himself. Teachers' professional development underwent the vicissitudes and developments of three stages.The major theory of teachers' professional development includes the theory of teachers' professional qualities, the theory of teachers' professional development stages and the theory of phronesis. Phronesis is the new trends of teachers' professional development. It attaches importance to teaching wisdom and emotional dimension. It pays close attention to teacher's personal life and teacher's work-site. The major models of teachers' professional development include professional development school model, higher education institute based teacher training model, school-based in-service education model and course-based education model.Teachers' professional development needs the power from teachers themselves and the power from the outside world. The inner power is the crux of the matter. It is important to confirm teacher's role again. This is the basis of teachers' self-cognition and feeling the real heart. And this can provide a new angle to understand teachers for other people. Each individual teacher's active professional development needs coming to realize and action. Each individual teacher should understand development in education practice, improve and manage knowledge, try to become reflective teacher and action researcher, develop individual education philosophy and build a whole and unified world. Teachers' exchanges and cooperative activity are also very important to promote professional development.The power from the outside world is important, too. To emphasize the inside reason but neglect outside reason is not realistic against the background of our country's education. The power from the outside world should be professional development model, the support from society including economic safe-guard, qualification regulations, teachers' organization, and changing the reality that societal expectation is not rational.College teachers' professional development hasn't attracted enough attention in the research of teachers' professional development. But in fact, college teachers' professional development is a question worth probing. College teachers' professional is of great importance.College students demand a high level of teachers' professional development. College teachers also need professional development. To promote college teachers' professional development can solve these problems. The difficulties include income, hard work, the lack of teachers' professional development project with a clear aim and the fetters of former knowledge view. We must strengthen college teachers' job belief. And college teachers should reflect on their knowledge view. In addition to the above ideas, extensive attention and consideration can bring us more tactics to promote college teachers' professional development.
