The general goal of the new curriculum standard is brought forwardbased on the people's demands for life and the fundamental culture traitfor people's harmonious development. It demonstrates the unification ofhumanity and instrumentality, the ideology and aesthetics. The traditionalChinese teaching process paid too much attention to the instrumentalityof the language, while breaking up the relation to people's daily life. Thisarticle, according to the principle for new course reform, tries to reflectthe defects of traditional Chinese teaching---deviation from life, and toexplore the connotation and characteristics of live Chinese teaching sothat to improve Chinese teaching level in China.This articles mainly consists of four parts: the connotation of liveChinese teaching, the characteristics of live Chinese teaching, theimplement of live Chinese teaching and some problems to be aware of inlive Chinese teaching process.The first part is about the connotation of live Chinese teaching. Theauthor introduces some theoretical backgrounds in order to define theterm and to discuss the significance of live Chinese teaching.The second part is about the characteristics of live Chinese teachingas follows: to be practical, open, circumstantial and principal. As apractical subject, Chinese teaching should break down the close teachingpattern and should be open to new thoughts, new materials, newenvironment, new means, and new evaluation so that to achieve thequality-education and creation-education.The third part deals with the implement of live Chinese teaching.Through instances of experiential teaching, expanding teaching, activeteaching and investigative teaching, the author emphasizes the importanceof connection with daily life in teaching Chinese.In the fourth part, as a course designer and executer, the authorpoints out some problems might appear in practicing live Chineseteaching.As a whole, the live Chinese teaching, on the basis of new coursereform, underscores the importance of the unification between humanityand instrumentality, and stresses the demand of the individual students.Its theoretical and practical value indicates its necessity and possibility todevelop in education. The implement of live Chinese teaching providesspace and opportunity of forming an effective Chinese teaching method.
