The self-efficacy theory is one of the most influential schools in the social cognitive theory of psychology. It is a theoretical explanation for the acquisition process of behavioral skills as well as for the go-between process which is neglected by reflection of behavioral response. It is a judgment for people's ability to perform and fulfill the goals in such specific procedure. Self-efficacy is a kind of strong inherent power in the mankind behavior operative activities. It has important function in controlling and regulating the behavior. The theory of self-efficacy appeared in 1960's, which aroused many scholars'attention. Especially in recent years, scholars at home and abroad with PE researchers began to understand it deeper, and put it into P.E research, and promote somewhere. These researches are concerned about the athletic training and teaching. Seen from the general situations, most research is about the theory as a whole, few are combined with experiments. Most lack experiments to get data, esp. in P.E. and this kind of situation are very common.This research is about the factors and criteria which influence students in volleyball teaching. By means of experiment, making a comparison with traditional volleyball teaching, this research adopts reference, questionnaire interview with experts, experimental comparison, math statistics and logic analysis. This sets volleyball foundational course as subjects in P.E departments of colleges.The results shows: success-failure experience, replacement experience, word and social persuasion and physical as well as mental states are the factors influencing students'self-efficacy. Self-efficacy imposes a great impact in students'learning volleyball. We can improve their confidence and level of learning volleyball by promoting their self-efficacy. Therefore, it is accessible to apply the theory of self-efficacy in volleyball foundational course in college. The application of the theory in volleyball tending, can adjust students'learning attitude, promote their motivation and improve their score.
