When we review the development of the whole world's education since 1980s, we can find that the private higher education has made a rapid progress. Especially in American, the private higher education has achieved great success. It has become the most famous private education system with its academic autonomy, sufficient funds, long tradition and the for-profit higher education. Under the deep historical background, its existence has fit in with the needs of the diversified and phyletic society.The developed private higher education in American attributes to fund achieved from many means and shared by many respects reasonably. During the long development history, it has been diversified in financing patterns. Finance for private higher education comes from the tuition, the income of universities service, educational donation, the appropriate funds from Federation, the subsidy from the State Government etc. Besides, the Voucher System, the Educational Listed Company and the Charity Funds Management Company are the necessary supplements in financing system. The practicability and peculiarity of these three systems have promoted the growth of the private higher education in American.From the growing process of American's private higher education, we can see that the elements which promoted the development of American's private higher education, the most important things are the political, economical and cultural background, the government support, the inner management system and the high-developed charitable economy.The private higher education in China has developed in the end of 1980s, it is now in the progress of beginning.
