Factor Analysis Of And Inspiration From The Advancement Of American Private Higher Education

The found of America's private higher education is previous to that of the nation itself. Through its development, the American higher education has become a model of the world's private higher education. Its development has approximately experienced four stages, which are, primary stage in colony times, shape-taken stage after the foundation of the nation, advanced stage after the Civil War, and prosperous stage after World War Two, respectively. The development of American private higher education is the combining result of the development of private colleges & universities themselves and the effect of social external environment, which is considered to be internal factor and external factor respectively. The former includes: good interior management system of colleges & universities, capability of raising school fund and using it properly, the right of self-management and resistibility to outer interference, qualified teachers, and excellent teaching. The latter could be understood from the following aspects. A moderate regulation and indirect control from the government provide the private higher education the right to develop independently. The fund from the government provides financial support to it. The non-government organizations provide supervision and advancement to the trade of private higher education. The developed market economy stimulates its development. The culture including religion and pragmatism also influence its development. All of these are impetus to the development of American higher education. The development of American private higher education brings inspiration and enlightenment to developing China's private higher education. In order to boost its development, the relative education policy needs to be refined; the government is supposed to change its administrative means and provide economic support; and the educational non-government organizations are expected to be cultivated. Meanwhile, the private colleges themselves are expected to create their education brand.
