From the constructivist perspective, the objectives, contents and principles of cultivating the students' intercultural communication awareness and competence during the teaching of senior English reading have been defined in the research, which is based on the theories of readers, of reading essence, of schemata and of relationship between language and culture, and on the practical requirements of English teaching and Senior English Curriculum. At the same time, the cross-cultural teaching model for reading class has been constructed and the leading-in methods of culture have been carried out in reading class so as to develop the students' intercultural communication awareness and competence. The experimental study has been employed in the research to prove that the objectives, contents and principles mentioned above are reasonable and the model is effective in training the students' intercultural communication awareness and ability. Finally, by using the methods and the model in English reading teaching practice, the students' cross-cultural communication awareness and competence have, to a great extent, been improved, which is just the goal that the research plans to reach as well.
