In today’s world, because of the economic globalization, international exchange is frequent, like all living together in a village, mutual influence and infiltration, different civilizations on earth appear "smaller", but the social and cultural customs of different RACES, countries and nations have kept their unique personality, and formed the cultural differences, the two different cultural background in the intercultural communication of verbal and nonverbal information accurate transfer plays an important influence.About the definition of the culture, Kluckhohn (Hu,1990:45) pointed out:"culture has broad and narrow sense, narrow sense of culture refers to the culture in history and literature, can also be understood as a certain cultural quality, while generalized culture refers to the entire way of life of human beings. Anthropologists culture is discussed in the body of the general culture." The word "communication" is translated from English, it has various forms. So-called communicative culture, refers to the two different cultural background communicate, directly affect the accurate deliver information (i.e., cause deviation or misunderstood) language and nonverbal cultural factors (Zhang,1994:193). Intercultural communication mainly studies different cultural backgrounds of people face-to-face oral communication (face-to-face interaction), nonliterary practicality gesture written by verbal communication and nonverbal communication form (Lin,2005:3). Intercultural communication pragmatics is the study on using a second language or foreign language in intercultural communication pragmatic problems. There is no error that occur and full communication effect in Verbal communication, generally referred to as the "pragmatic failure".According to Thomas (Thomas,1983), pragmatic failures can be broadly divided into pragmatic language mistakes and social pragmatic failures, they are all belong to the important content of cross-cultural pragmatics. The former is mainly composed of the differences between different languages or caused by the interaction between them, while the latter is the main attachment has different language habits caused by cultural differences and social culture.The purpose of foreign language teaching is to cultivate students’ flexibility to use the target language and the capability of communication activities from the people of different cultural backgrounds in order to achieve this goal, foreign language teachers should try to use the target language in daily teaching activities, make the students understand the similarities and differences between different nationalities and different culture, understand ways to overcome the cultural barriers currently in intercultural communication.The purpose of this paper analyze the pragmatic failures caused by cultural differences in senior school English teaching, avoid using subjective culture theory to understand other people’s speech act, so as to achieve successful intercultural communication.
