City's Modernity: Nature, Problems And Transcension

This thesis contains three aspects: the nature of city's modernity, the problems of city's modernity and the transcension of city's modernity. Firstly, through a logical and historical analysis, the nature of city's modernity is uncovered the returning of city's subjectivity and the construction of rationality principle for the elements of city's structure. Then, the issues concerning city's modernity are explored, such as the replacement of city's subject by capital, the tool rationality as the construction principle for the elements of city's structure, the production dissimilation of city's space, the hierarchy of city's communities, the rigidity of city's system, and the loss of city's cultural meaning. Finally, the transcension of city's modernity is covered from the perspective of Marxist Communication Practice Theory and through criticizing and surpassing the postcapitalist turn to build up the new city's modernity with multi-polar structure of city's subject and communication practice rationality as its core where human beings are in harmony with nature, society is fair, social system is open and value rationality and emotional communication are stressed culturally, aiming to achieve the purpose of the unity of city and countryside and realize human beings'living meaning and value appeal.
