The paper studies the role of mathematical methodology in the mathematics teaching of middle schools and its application means through introduction of several practical teaching cases, taking mathmatical methodology as the theoretical basis and the current mathmatics teaching concepts as the start point; adopting education psychology, thinking science and mathematics philosophy; and combining the mathmatics teaching practice of middle school with the Code of Mathematics Course for Full-time Compulsory Education(For Practise).There are five chapters in the paper and main points are as follows:Chapter I: It briefs the definition of methdology and mathematics methdology based upon relationships which are briefly explained between mathematical thought and mathematical methods, mathematical ideas and mathematical methods, mathematical study and mathematical methods as the well as Code of New Courses (For Practice) and mathematical methodology.Chapter II: It states that mathematical methodology plays a significant role in learning and study of mathematics by illustration of well-known mathematicians Descartes and Euler using mathematical methodology to solve the difficult mathematical problems.Chapter III: Based upon the teaching practice of middle school and the requirements of new teaching materials and guidance for Olympic contests of mathematics, it is in an attempt to analyse and study the application of mathematics methdology in the mathematics teaching of middle school through the particular examples. It proves that the thought of mathematical methodology is thoroughly related with mathematics teaching practice, at the same time, any of methodologies is interconnected with another one and complementary toeach other when applying in teaching practice.Chapter IV: This chapter demonstrates the newly-added contents such as axial symmetry in life, interesting seven-piece puzzle, law probing and laying of ceramic tiles, by which the practical significance of mathematical methodology is stated in integration with the basic concept of Code of New Course(For Practice). With the help of multimedia, courses are redesigned and integrated as a result an optimization is made on the teaching results of practising mathematical methodology in the mathematics teaching of middle school from all perspectives. It fully implies that the mathematcal thought and mathematical methodology give full play of its educational function, cultural function and social function in mathematics teaching of middle school, and displays education value of the mathematical aesthetics thoughts.Chapter V: Staring from the application of mathematical methodology in mathematics teaching of middle school, it discusses the strategy of applying mathematical methodology to mathematics teaching of middle school, gives some reasonable advice to follow by teachers when teaching mathematics with use of mathematical methodology, and puts forward certain problems arising from the integration of mathematical methodology with up-to-date teaching techniques and reflective thinking agaist the said problems .
