The Current Conditions And Causes Of Moral Misconduct Of Minors On Net And Its Strategies

Internet is a double-edged sword which with the many blessings brings a number of negative effects to the minors, such as floods of improper information, disorientation of minors in life, morality and beliefs. Because of indulgence in surfing on the Internet for unhealthy contents, some of them have turned the net into a place of self play, spreading obscene materials, labeling and gaming without check and control; others put their talents to the wrong place, becoming hackers spreading viruses and liable for criminal charges; still others trap or fall into traps of deception via the chat room. Since the minors are in the formative stage of their values, morality and outlook of life, it is impossible for them to make sound and responsible judgments amidst so much information and disinformation. Therefore, it is of great importance to the present and future development of the Chinese civilization for us to make a study of the issues of how to deal with misconducts on the net, how to modify them so as to improve the quality of their net life and enhance their ability to conduct themselves and to foster their morals.In line with the principles of putting theory into practice and integrating summaries with innovations, and by way of such research methods as literature survey and surveying through questionnaires, this paper deals with the topic from both the theoretical and practical levels. On the theoretical level, it defines the content of the net morality, and analyzes the characteristics; meanwhile, after comparing the findings of relevant research home and abroad, the author suggests the code of conduct for minors surfing on the net as"respecting science and pursuing the truth; practicing integrity and friendly communication; self respecting and self disciplining in surfing; maintaining order and not hacking; pursuing knowledge and respecting privacy; doing no harm to others and contributing to the society; being reliable and speaking out truth; causing no trouble to all and guarding against bad acts. On the practical level, on the basis of literature study, questionnaire surveys and interviews, this paper examines the current situation of morality of the minors on the net and analyzes the causes and sources of moral misconduct of the minors on the net from such angles as psychology of minors, family, school, society and the Internet, and subsequently puts forward for different educators the idea of multi-channel education at the family, school and society levels and related strategies to foster the healthy conducts and modify moral misconducts of the minors on the net, in the hope of bringing about better educational effects and healthier development for the minors.
