In my country, the traditional mathematics teaching of the elementary and secondary school paid attention to the consequence of mathematics partly, but the developing progress of the mathematics ideas and methods were neglected at different level. This case is not good to not only improve students'mathematics knowledge and ability overall, but also for them understand and mastery the mathematics ideas and methods and the spirit correctly. If learning the mathematical theory is emphasized only during the mathematics teaching, the students can't understand the mathematics ideas and methods and the spirit of the mathematical creative activity (such as, the positive spirit, the critical spirit, the enterprising spirit, and so on). The mathematics subject is different from the natural science, and it is a historical and cumulative subject. Every pace of its development was done through inheriting and developing the original theory, that is, the past of mathematics was melted down the present and future of mathematics. So it is necessary to make use of mathematics history appropriately and effectively during mathematics teaching of the elementary and secondary school. Thus, as a new thought of the mathematics education, we must think about the problem of making use of mathematics history appropriately and efficiently during mathematics teaching of the elementary and secondary school.For the purpose as mentioned, this essay discusses several problem as follow through describing the meaning of mathematics history and its four characters, such as, the reality, the cultural meaning, the interaction among subjects and the heuristics.1. The educational value of mathematics history is discussed elaboratelyfrom several aspects, such as, improving the creative thinking ability on mathematics, grasping the mathematics ideas and methods, fostering the patriotism, motivating the national proud, improving students'cultural attainment, motivating the learning interest, molding of students'temperament, and the aesthetic education.2. Through the demands for the mathematics ideas and methods and mathematics history in the teaching objects of the secondary school mathematics, it is illustrated that the importance of mathematics history during mathematics teaching of the secondary school and how to integrate mathematics history with mathematics teaching of the secondary school.3. Through comparing among several mathematics methods, the students will be instructed to have the discovery learning, the enquiry learning, and make use of the famous problems in mathematics history. Then the essay proposes teaching strategy and instructive principle, selected principle, study principle for the efficient using mathematics history.4. Through teaching the Pythagoras theorem and the make-square method of quadric equation with one unknown, the teaching practice of using mathematics history during mathematics teaching of the secondary school is researched deeply, so the educational value of mathematics history is embodied well.
