Consequently, research on the characteristic role of PE teachers in Shanxi university has realistic meaning, as far as the reform of university sports in Shanxi and even the whole country are concerned.The role is social, which determines that the characteristic role will be enriched and perfected constantly with development of the society., Echoed with the technical development of modernized information, university's sports teaching environment has changed in the 21 st century, as a result, the traditional role of the PE teacher will change and present diversified development trends. According to PE teachers' role, adopting document and material, questionare, logic methed, mathematics and physics statistic methed and etc. this paper makes investigations into current situation of PE teachers' characteristic in Shanxi university. The result of study shows: 1. PE teachers of Shanxi university, not only in terms of expectation, but behavior, do not get rid of traditional constraint of characteristic role of teacher, totally yet putting the role of" person who teaches knowledge " in the first place;2.All in all, firstly, the two role," model of student " and " person who teaches knowledge ", are on "better level";Secondly, the characteristic role of "artist of interpersonal relationship" is on "better level";Thirdly, the characteristic role of "collective leader " and "psycho-therapy worker" are moreover until " under being better, if generally ";role of" study, learner " is not so good. 3.
