The Study On Social Support For Impoverished Females In Northwest Rural Areas

Based on the theory of social support and living condition of impoverished females living in the northwest rural areas, this paper, by means of the study on 30 females, explores the status quo of social support for impoverished females living in the northwest rural areas and the reasons why there is a lack of this support. It also summarizes the status quo of impoverished females living in the northwest rural areas from four dimensions: traditional social and cultural space, lack of modern social system, influence of social circulation and impact of significant events, concluding that there appears a void of social support for this special group of people because they are impoverished females living in the rural areas. Taking the model of social support for impoverished females living in the northwest rural areas as the basic theoretical result, the thesis generalizes three types of models from different perspectives-the primary model, the systematic model and the category model. In the primary model, its composing essential factors are divided into three types: enhancing, stimulating and lacking, which are systematically analyzed from nine aspects. In the systematic model, these factors affecting social support for females are further analyzed from four levels of individual, family, community and society. Then the author thinks that factors of different levels will play different roles in the process of enhancing social support for females where the indistinct sense of gender must be treated in detail. In the category model, the author, using the factor of gender and adding the ones of special social support for females from four aspects, hopes that it can not only promote the theory of social support to change from focusing on macroscopic modern theory to microscopic post-modern one, but also penetrate into and play an active role in the practical social support for females.
