For long time the science education in our country exists mistake district, such as neglect the expanding of science spirit, neglect science method development and neglect science values development etc. These make the science curriculum reform harder. But in the international science education realm, development student's science literacy has already been a basic target of science education. As the new curriculum reform continuously make progress, our country's science education target is also gradually change from the knowledge basis toward the education that focus on student' science literacy. In practice, the realization of this target cannot get away from a group of teachers who have satisfactory science literacy level and master the modern education methods. One research showed, teacher's science literacy level has direct influence to the student, so teacher's science literacy level is a great influence factor whether science education can carry out smoothly. There has been some survey research on primary school teacher's science literacy, involving large area and large number of people, but seldom research is on middle school teacher. So this study wants to discover how the middle school teacher's science literacy level is like. This thesis tries to show the current level of teacher's science literacy through a questionnaire survey, in order to discover the existing problems, and reasonably put forward some suggestions that have important meaning to the teacher's professional development, also match the farsighted benefits of the current science education reform.This thesis firstly illustrates the related concepts of science literacy, and then elaborated the present research situation of science literacy and teachers' science literacy at home and abroad. Besides, several dimensionalities that should be included in the concept of science literacy and teachers' science literacy were illustrated. Moreover, the notion of teachers' science literacy was defined and practical survey methods were proposed. In addition to this, based on the related literature, a questionnaire was designed for the purpose of investigating teachers' scientific literacy. Analysis the teacher's science literacy level through the questionnaire investigate and statistical data. From the result of the questionnaire, analysis current level of teacher'sscience literacy, discover the problems, put forward some suggestions, in order to bring some beneficial helps towards teacher science literacy, and some beneficial helps towards science education.The results shows that the main factors influence the middle school teacher's science literacy level are the teacher's educational background and the subject teacher teaches, other factors like sex, age, teach age, job title etc, the influence of these factors do not show notability. Currently the teacher's science literacy level have showed varying degrees of ability, especially weak at the science method, and the nature of science, most of the teachers are better at the scientific knowledge, but on the understanding of the nature of science is not enough, this is the most decisive problem in teacher's science literacy. The influence of teacher's educational background shows, teachers have undergraduate or above undergraduate educational background didn't show much difference on the level of science literacy, but their score is higher than the teachers who doesn't has a undergraduate educational background. See from the influence of different subjects teacher teaches, teacher of physics, chemistry, biology get higher scores than the teacher of mathematics.Above are just one part of the problems this investigation has show, in order to resolve these problems, we still need the department of education and school to attach importance on teacher's in-service education and training, this can be carried out from following several aspects: 1.The related education department should attach more importance on teacher's in-service education and training;2.Schools should provide convenience t for the teacher's training and science education;3.The form of the training should be improved;4.To establish effective methods on teacher's science literacy research.To raise the teacher's science literacy level needs the government level, the school level and the teacher themselves' continuously work to carry out, besides, the education department concerned should make teacher's science literacy level a basic index sign that the science teacher should have, in addition the research on teacher' science literacy should form some certain mode, give out the questionnaires periodically and accumulate data for the research, all these can provide a beneficial help to raise teacher's science literacy level.
