From The Reflections On "Modernity" And "Postmodernity" To The Eternal Value Appeal

Zygmunt Bauman is an English famous sociologist. Among the arguments on modernity and postmodernity, more and more sociologists began to pay attention to Zygmunt Bauman because of his acute view, profound idea, many bookmakings, special style and superexcellent achievement. In china ,when we pay more attention to Deriida , Foucault, Habermas, Lyotard, Giddens, the research on Bauman starts just now .In my opinion our researches on Bauman will be more and more because his charm and his theory's value.There are two questions to argue in the article. One is how does Bauman analyze the present society in western world. The answer is the crossed analysis between modernity and postmodernity. In the article I will prove that by analyzing the core of modernity and postmoderntiy of Bauman .Among that, the core of modernity includes the mechanism of the modernity, that is how does the modernity run; the prices of the modernity, which means what does the people pay for the mechanism; the enervation of the modernity, that is the exhibition and reason of the enervation. The core of the postmodernity includes the postmodernity as a thinking mode, as a spirit or a value mode, and as a new social system .On the last meaning I describe the change on person, society and the global world that endows the postmodernity new meanings.The other question is what does Bauman want on earth by analyzing the modernity and postmodernity? In the process of analyzing, Bauman animadverts both on the modernity and postmodernity. What does he want? In another word, what is it that Bauman has been in pursuit of? In the article, I will answer that question by analyzing the proposition of "strengthen the human's freedom and comity" and "build postmodernity sociology".At the end of the article, I will sum up all of my opinions and point out my questions about Bauman's theory.
