English Curriculum Standard (2001) states clearly that we should foster students' competence to use language synthetically and also it proposes the use of Task-based Language Teaching Model in the classroom teaching. Task-based Language Teaching Model helps students to reach the language goals through completing the tasks given by teachers, since the final goal of learning a language is to achieve language communicative competence. In this paper, the author studies the effects of Task-based Language Teaching on the students by using the methods of an experiment and a questionnaire. The students' communicative competence is really promoted after they experience Task-based Language Teaching Model. With the help of well-designed activities, the students are much interested in English learning, and are willing to participate in class actively.It has been proved that Task-based Language Teaching Model is one of the effective ways to improve students' communicative competence these days. The idea of Task-based Language Teaching breaks that of the traditional teaching models, which separates teaching grammar from the use of language, and language forms from language meaning. Moreover, Task-based language Teaching Model can also stimulate students' interest in English learning by taking part in the activities designed by the teacher. The designed tasks must be fit for students' present English proficiency level, and in this way the students would like to take part in task-based activities more actively, and get to be more interested in learning English.Altogether there are four chapters in this paper. Chapter one introduces the background of the research. It shows the problems existing in the traditional classroom, and states the significance of the research.
