In the new round of curriculum reform , the writing of textbooks in our country has been experiencing a diversified trend under the requirement of modernization of textbooks. Since 2004. there have been four sets of common senior high-school geography curriculum standard experimental textbooks that have passed the standards set by the national middle and primary schools' textbooks authorization committee. Though they have their own unique characteristics , there is a common point among them :each of them has a lot of "activities" in their design.Activities play an important role in these textbooks, but there are still some problematic issues that caused my interest and attention. Adopting the research methods of interview, of documentary and of the investigation of questionnaire, the author tries to analyze the problems existing in design of "activities " by plenty of examples in the present experimental textbooks and tries to bring forward several solving strategies. This paper includes four parts:Firstly, starting from the research background of activity, the author clarifies the concept of activity. The theoretical basis of this paper are Activity-teaching theory, the theory of students-centered teaching and meta-cognition theory. And then the author illustrates the research developmental status of activities in geography textbooks both in china and abroad. In the last two parts of this paper, according the design of activities in our experimental textbooks and the psychological characteristics of senior high school students, the author analyzes the existing questionable points in the four sets of textbooks from the perspectives of the degree of activities' difficulty, the operability of the activities , the design of "asking", the materials used in the design of activities.
