In China, since the listening comprehension part took 20% in the scores of National College-Entrance English Examination, it began to play a more and more important role in the English exams. Meanwhile, listening comprehension as a separate and important component of language learning is drawing more and more attention in EFL study. But listening comprehension training is almost completely overlooked in the English teaching. All the English teachers concern about how to improve the students' listening proficiency and how to help them to get higher marks in the National College Entrance English Examination.Krashen once pointed out that in the learning and use of the languages, listening comprehension was the most important part among listening, speaking, reading and writing. No matter who are the language learners, children or grown-ups, the learners will have confidence in language learning only when their listening abilities are fully developed. Thus it can be seen that listening comprehension is very important in both having a good command of a foreign language itself and stimulating learners' motivation and arousing the learners' positive affection to the learning of listening comprehension.For these reasons mentioned above, the current study has explored the influence of strategy choice and motivation on English learners. The specific purpose is to provide empirical evidence that these two factors may have an effect on the listening proficiency.This thesis is made up of three parts (including six chapters).The first part, including Chapter One contextualizes the research topic, and then introduces aims of the present study, after that it discusses the distinction of some terms.The second part includes Chapter Two, Chapter Three, Chapter Four. Some related research and discussions on the topic are in the part. One task in this part is that explores the relationship between learning strategies and listening comprehension. The subjects will involve 120 Senior Grade Two students in Hongdu Middle School. The survey instruments include a strategy questionnaire which is composed of two sections, and listening tests. The SPSS (Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences) Version 10.0 for Windows was employed to analyze data. The results are the following:...
