The achievement motivation is the internal state and course where an individual seeks to make outstanding achievements in all kinds of fields. It is not only the internal motivation of speeding up healthy development but also the continuous source of propelling the social advancement. Particularly at the moment when the quality education is being greatly boosted and implemented, it is not only one of the purposes of quality education, but the proper goal which the reforms in the ideological and political course of the middle school should achieve. Consequently cultivating achievement motivation is an important subject of the schooling especially the ideological and political education of the middle school.According to achievement motivation, the present middle school students are classified into three types. One type is characterized by having proper achievement motivation perseveringly. Another type is characterized by having improper achievement motivation. And the other type is characterized by having no any achievement motivation. The schooling is supposed to train the first type students. But, the current situation of the middle school students' achievement motivation is dissatisfied. The reasons include the following. First, The traditional culture of paying more attention to society than individual have an negative impact on students. Second, the test-oriented schooling attaches more importance to scores than quality. Third, some parents educate children improperly. At last, the middle school students have defective personalities. In order to cultivate achievement motivation, not only do the students make own efforts but the schooling should create a favorable external enviorenment by making full use of various education sources such as the society and families and so forth, which will be the external drive suitable for the students' internal needs. The measures taken by the schooling include establishing correct perspective of students development to stimulate students' achievement motivation, guiding students to improve self-cultivation to raise the level of achievement motivation, creating chances of success to strengthen achievement motivation. It is eventually expected to create a favorable environment for students and stimulate their continous internal need for ourstanding achievements and provide them with countless motivation forces by comprehensive use of various education sources.
