The postgraduate education is the highest level in the higher education structure, also is the trained high-level professional personnel's important stage. For many years, The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) as our country's high-level scientists and technicians' important raise base, obtain the remarkable results on the graduate student education. In the new times, how meets the national economical need, truly raise the CAS to be cradling of senior intellectuals and the innovation talented persons, it is a task that needs profoundly to ponder, diligently to practice and for a long-term to struggle.There are some research methods such as references, comparison, and investigation were used in this paper combining with the knowledge of the pedagogy and the administration to study the education characters and the state of the postgraduate and the supervisor in seven research institutes of Lanzhou Branch, CAS. After these enquiry based works, some problems were found during postgraduate education: the ability of postgraduate need improve, the education mode is too singleness, academic atmosphere need enhance, and the care for mentality of postgraduate is not enough. Simultaneity, there also are some problems about the aspect of supervisors, such as the quality and ability of supervisors is declined, the attitude of supervisor teaching also have prejudice, the knowledge update not in time too, the supervisor teaching qualification is loose and lack of normal school experiences.This paper aim at the problems appeared from the investigation results, and carry on the analysis, ponder and discussion. At the same time, use the success experience of graduate student educates in universities and overseas, proposed some useful methods and the countermeasure. For one side, pays great attention to raise the postgraduate comprehensive capacity, builds the dense academic atmosphere and strengthens the postgraduate's team spirit and psychologically healthy education. For the other side, transform conception, sets up a better communicate mechanism between teachers and students, attaches importance to the check-up system of the supervisor, establishes guiding group in the same discipline or correlation discipline, and pays great attention to sustained growth of the supervisor. And then, not only the postgraduate has the high quality science and technology talented, simultaneously also has the perfect personality and the health psychology. Causes the supervisor as well as high quality scientist, also become the educationalist who can train the high quality talented persons.
