In this paper, the author proposed inquiring reading while pointing out the disadvantages of traditional reading teaching in senior high school, such as lacking inquiring learning, cooperative learning and learner autonomy. Inquiring reading is based on inquiring learning, which is a very important idea in the new basic education curriculum innovation.It is necessary and feasible to apply inquiring reading to senior high school education. Inquiring reading conforms to the constructivism and the new curriculum innovation.Teachers should concern more about students'multi-intelligence and learn more about teaching methodologies, theories and learning strategies to meet the needs of students. The abundant availability of information is highly beneficial to inquiring reading teaching. In the process of inquiring reading, teachers listen attentively to students, respect their alternative conceptions, value their own particular feelings and experiences, and promote the students to reflect on what and how they are thinking. Students should be regarded as explorers and active learners who bring a great deal of information to the learning process. It is also very important that students communicate and cooperate with each other. Inquiring reading improved the students'reading abilities by using various materials, creating a suitable circumstance of study, and increasing the students'interest.Education of the Information-aged 21st century should be education of information. Inquiring reading will make the reading teaching in senior high school interactive and openly. Inquiring reading teaching will not only make teachers and students see their achievements and shortcomings, but also bring in more information for teaching and learning. Inquiring reading is an important means to push forward the reading teaching and learning in senior high school.
