| With the outcome of the rapid growth of the Internet, web-based language teaching has penetrated into the second and foreign language education, displaying its unlimited vitality. Many researches conducted abroad have shown that web-based teaching of EFL writing improves the students' writing competency. However, little research has been conducted into its positive effects in the Chinese context, still less into those in EFL writing in senior high schools in China. Besides, the current New English Curriculum Standards emphasizes the cultivation of students' writing ability. Thus, it is necessary to do some research to explore the effectiveness of the use of web in the teaching of EFL writing in senior high schools in China. This thesis elaborates the use of web in the teaching of EFL writing in senior high schools. The paper contains four sections. It begins with the motivation and significance of the study; analyzes the current writing instruction of senior high schools in China and the problems existing in composition teaching and reviews the underlying theories relating to the web-based teaching of EFL writing, including constructivism and the output hypothesis; then presents an experiment comparing the web-based teaching of EFL writing and the traditional teaching of EFL writing, trying to explore the effectiveness of the former instruction. Data analysis is based on the pre-test and the post-test, the questionnaire of the students' attitude towards writing before and after the experiment and the survey of students' attitude towards the Internet use in EFL writing in the senior highschool. The outcomes have demonstrated the better development of students' writing competency in a web-based writing environment than that of students in the traditional classroom. |
