A Survey Of Job Pressure, Job-Burnout, And Social Support Of College PE Teachers In Fujian

Teachers are among the group of people most vulnerable to job burnout, which will lead to serious negetive effects on mental and physical development of students as well as teachers themselves. In view of this, the author carried out, on the basis of findings already made by other researchers, further investigations and analysis concerning job pressure, job burnout and social expectations of college PE teachers in Fujian, resulting in some tentative proposals as to strategies to relieve the state of job bornout among college PE teachers.On the basis of Maslash's MBI questionnaire and other sources, the author designed a job-burnout questionnaire and a job pressure questionnaire for college PE teachers. It has been proved that these quetionnaires are efficient enough to be used in investigation. Furthermore, Xiao Shui-yuan's Table of Social Support Quantification is also used in the evaluation of social support. The result shows that: i) Job burnout is a prevalent phenomenon among college PE teachers in Fujian; ii) College PE teachers generally suffer from comparatively higher pressure from required research task, desire for self-development, job expectations and other factors, among which required research task is the most heavy burden; iii) College PE teachers enjoy greater social support; iv) Factors accounting for job burnout and the amount of social support exert different degree of influence on the situation of job burnout.This paper finally put forward three recommendations for relieving the state of job burnout, namely, regulating the negative factors in external environment; control the negative factors in college's internal environment, and improve the adaptability of college PE teachers. The author hopes that his research will help in alleviate the situation of job burnout and enhence social support of college PE teachers.
