"Education is fundamental for the protection of the environment" . Normal colleges and universities are shouldering the important task of raising elementary teachers, so that the environment attainments and the environment education teaching skills of students in normal colleges directly affect the environment education quality of primary and middle schools. Thus there is important referential significance for the improvement of university environment education by investigating and acknowledging the demand of environment education and the environment attainments of college seniors of our province's normal colleges and universities.Making environment knowledge, environment skills, environment emotion, environment behavior and environment ethics view five aspects as foundations, I establish the evaluation system of environment attainment levels. In accordance with this system I make a questionnaire of environment attainment and environment education demand for students of normal colleges and universities, and then do questionnaire survey by means of random sampling in different levels. I collect questionnaires of college seniors of various majors from Shandong Normal University, Linyi Normal College and Zibo Normal College. Based on the analysis and discussion to statistical result that is concluded by analyzing the questionnaires with SPSS13.0 I summarize the characteristic of the environment attainments of college seniors of our province' s normal colleges and universities and the demand of environment education. The following is the conclusion.1. Environment elementary knowledge level of Students is high, while their knowledge of new environmental protection concept, environment hot topic and environment law is poor, and they are lack of practice ability of environment protection.2. Students are able to pay attention to the environment event frequently, and have some sense of responsibility to environmental protection, but their environment emotion is in low level, which is far below the altitude of environment ethics. Their environmental awareness and environment behavior are mostly based on self-benefit directly, but not on the sustainable development strategic concept and the viewpoint.3. Their environmental protection habits mainly focus on "turning off the lamp when leaving" and "using more energy conservation product" , while they are not used to the typical environmental protection behavior such as "not using plastic bag while shopping" , at most, "occasionally doing it". Over 50% of the students have participated in the environmental protection activity, but it is only restricted in the free planting, the recycling worn-out battery, the environmental protection signature, and so on. More than half of the students who have taken part in the environmental protection activity consider that "though these activities are significant, they pay too much attention on patterns, and the effect is little" . Meanwhile, only 10% of the students may stop"other people' s environment damage behavior" .4. Environment knowledge level of Students relate to their major; By the environmental protection habit of deal with the worn out battery, the major of students is not concerning with their environment behavior.5. Most of students think that it is essential to give environment education courses, and their favorite patterns of accepting environment education is the instruction and scientific research activity that students practice and participate. Students consider that the school environment education should stress with emphasis on the related content of environment ethics view, and they also think that in school environment. education there exists the problem that the education aim is indefinite, Under these analysis and discussion, I propose the following measures and suggestions of how improving the environment education of normal colleges and universities: Firstly, make more clear about the aim of environment education of normal colleges and universities; Secondly, rationally establish the curriculum of environment education, enrich and consummate the course content, and improve teaching method to prominent the characteristic of practicality, sociality and openness of environment education; Lastly pay attention to the educating of students' environment ethics view and the training of their environment education teaching skills, so that raise them to be not only positive practitioners of sustainable development, also disseminators of knowledge and thought of sustainable development.
