| At present, the reseaches on football general course are concentrating on something without comprhensive ones. So it is difficult to give an overview to the course. Doing research on football general course systematically is useful to know the connection and contradiction between teaching situation and social needs. And then we can grasp the trend of teaching reform and offer reasonable suggestion.By adopting documentation, questionare ivestigation, expert interview, logical analysis, this dissertation does a research on the situation and related countermeasures of football general course in domestic physical institutes. It is proved that there are many irrational phenomena in football general course such as the guiding principles, course target, teaching contents and methods, examination and so on. teaching task.so the aim of curriculum cannot match with the aim of cultivating thequalified students. Teaching methods and teaching means are so old-fashioned that they couldn't fit with the requirement of multi-medium teaching method. However, teaching conditionhas changed a lot.According to the study results and the present demand of course reform in physical institutes, this dissertation gives some suggestions to the reform of football general course such as: relocating the football general course, making new instructional program, promoting the reform of teaching methods, developing studnts potensial abilities, improving the system of evaluation.
