The school management is an arduous and complicated project. The efficiency of middle-level management at school is particularly important in that it directly affects the efficiency of school management. Limited by many factors such as the poor faculty quality, the lack of the funds, and the lagged-behind educational concepts, the efficiency of middle-level management in the rural high school is usually low, and the middle-level management usually plays a poor role in school management.To make the rural high school characteristic, to exploit all the potential of the middle-level management, and to improve education and teaching level, we must begin with improving middle-level management effectiveness of the rural high school to strengthen the team cooperation, make the job of each working section explicit, work separately yet cooperatively, and, thus, to produce better results. Considering that there is not too much research going on on the efficiency of middle-level management in rural middle schools, there is a need to do more work on this aspect to improve the efficiency of middle-level management, thus, the education.GuLang County in Gansu Province is a poor one and it has four high schools located in rural area. In this thesis, an investigation on the middle-level management efficiency of these four high schools is conducted through a survey, and the possible causes of the results are analyzed. Hopefully, the corresponding improvement could be identified through this research work such that it can contribute to the improvement in the middle-level management efficiency in rural high schools, and, therefore, the education quality in these schools.There are three major sections in this thesis:The first section is the introduction, mainly discussing the origin, purposes and meanings of this research. It includes the literature review feasibility study of this research and the expected results.The second section includes the whole process of the investigation and research and it is the major part of this thesis. It includes the description of the method used in this research and the survey results, and both quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results. It also states the related theories of the middle-level management and analyzes the features and the functions of the middle-level management in the process of school management and the quality requirement of the middle-level leaders of the school.The third section is the survey results. According to our analysis of the survey results, to improve the middle-level management efficiency in rural high school, it is necessary to establish reasonable and scientific posts and division of labor and coordination, to establish a sound promotion mechanism, to improve the professional quality of middle-level leaders, to build up the effective encouraging mechanism, and to draw up the scientific examination project.The assessment and evaluation of the efficiency of the middle-level leadership describe the experiment object and process, and the fitting evaluation method, which makes the evaluation results reliable. It analyzed the existent problems during the experimenting progress and provided possible solutions to these problems so they could be the basis of the further improvement in the future.
