Nowadays, with the profound change of international situation, the economic globalization is becoming clearer, scientific field is progressing fast and the competition of overall national strength is tighter than before. It is an historical event for China entering WTO, it symbolizes that China has entered a new era of opening itself to the world, at the same time China also gives promises in the higher learning field that we will carry out exchange and cooperation with the educational developed countries in a broader and higher level.This essay is divided into 4 parts.The first part puts forward the concept of the internationalization of higher learning and stresses the higher learning internationalization is an inevitable trend. With the coming of knowledge economy era, the education is moving from the edge of society to the center of society and it plays an important role in the competition of overall national strength. As the economic globalization becomes clearer, the international exchange and cooperation in the education field is becoming a world trend and it is an imperative thing under the situation. Also, in this part, the author demonstrates the historical process of the internationalization of higher learning in China.In the second part, the essay analyzes the opportunity and challenge occurred after entering WTO. With the entering of WTO, Chinese higher learning faces a new situation that opportunity and challenge coexist. How to cope with the requirements proposed by economic globalization and how to follow the educational globalization are the tasks for opening education. The author also analyzes the urgent problems and some pairs of relations existing in our country's higher learning institutes. The essay particularly stresses the following pairs of relations: internalization and nativism; single communication and double communication; economic benefit and political requirement; the advancement of internationalization of higher learning and the balance of developing speed of internationalization.The third part states the strategies that are beneficial to the development of the internationalization of higher learning in China.The last part is the main body of this essay. It stresses that higher learning institutes are the main force in the process of internationalization of higher learning. If we want to realize the internationalization of higher learning in China, we must make the most of higher learning institutes in China. We can promote the process of higher learning institutes in China by reforming the higher learning institutes, strengthening the international exchange and cooperation, bringing in talents and training teachers.
