This essay takes the aquatic sports as an example to study the interpersonal relationship between the coaches and athletes in the first-class sport teams. Starting from the self-adapting of the coaches and based on the result of interviews and the questionnaires, we design professional counseling forms and use Delphi Model to analyze the main factors which will affect the relationship between the coaches and athletes and thus work out the corresponding coordinating measures.Their relationship is in essence of a superior to subordinate relationship, a cooperative partnership, an antagonistic association, a long-term kind and a subordinate sort. There are four characteristics in the relationship between the coaches and the athletes: they are the unity of the object, the imbalance between the coaches and the athletes, the compensation/making-up through athletes'performance and the difference of the requirements. There are also four factors affecting their interpersonal relationship: namely the coaches'personality, working ability, working attitude and attitude towards the interpersonal relationship. The following suggestions are made according to the research conclusions aforementioned:Firstly, the coaches should pay great attention to their own moral cultivation and to shape good personality.Secondly, the coaches should level up their moral standards and improve their communication abilities and calculate a nicety when dealing with the athletes. Thirdly, the coaches should improve continuously their professional qualification and managerial methods.Last but not least, the coaches should continuously strengthen their consciousness of responsibility and always adhere to the principle of equity and democracy.
