With the world's entry into the 21st century, people's diathesis and creativity are becoming key indexes of national integrated ability as well as key factors that may have great influence on the economic and social development. The competition in economy is dependent on talents, and in the final analysis, it is determined by education, especially higher education. Universities oriented at academic researches are the main power of knowledge innovation in China, which is ultimately realized by the faculties; therefore, a scientific and reasonable compensation system should be made incentive to the faculties.The thesis focuses the building of university faculty salary system. It meets the demand of further reforming the human resource system in universities, and optimizes the making of faculties. On the basis of comprehensive application of the motivation theories, the thesis studies the university faculty compensation system and the situation, and comparatively analyzes the university faculty compensation system in various other countries, including the United States, Germany, France, and India, whose economic institutions and education systems are representative. And the thesis provides some reference for building university faculty compensation system. To build a scientific and rational post allowance system is the key for the faculty, the output efficiency of teaching and research, and the producing of profound ideas and systems. And so is the efficient supplement of current compensation system in China. The thesis mainly studies the post allowance system, and makes a research on the following methods: the amount of compensation depends on the post and the work efficiency, the excellent talents and the key posts should be given more. At the end, the thesis generalizes the procedure of university faculty salary system construction, and applies it to a university to construct the post allowance system.
