Comparative Study About Family Education Between China And America In The View Of Values

Family education is one of the important parts of education, and it takes great effect not only on personal growth but also the development of entire society.Influenced by all kinds of society factors such as politics, economy, culture et al, family education of different country presents different character. This paper wants to carry out a comparative study about family education between China and America in the view of values.Under the influence of collectivism, the purpose of Chinese family education emphasizes the link between individuality and family, and focus on cultivating children through the literacy education. On the contrary, because of the influence of individualism, the purpose of American family education encourages the individual achievement. American parents pay more attention to the cultivate children with many kind of abilities which can be used to live better in the society.The Chinese and the American people have different views about success, so the content of two countries' family education is also different. Chinese parents lay more emphasis on literacy education, and American parents emphasize livelihood education.As for the education style, Chinese parents trend to take guard style, and American parents like to treat their children in a democratic style. Besides the influence of collectivism and individualism, the existence of this difference derives from the different views of family.Chinese family education and American family education have respective characters, advantages and disadvantages. On the basic of exploration into causes of differences, this paper tries to give some reasonable advises, hoping that our country's family education will be more rational.
